Negative cultural practices and inadequate understanding of the bible are blocking evangelists from spreading the word of God to the grassroots, says a senior priest.
Fr Arkanjelo Lokoro, the Vicar-General of the Catholic Diocese of Torit says most of the priests find it hard to preach the word of God to the needy, Radio Emmanuel reports.
He cites traditional communal conflicts as one of the major obstacles to the absorption of Christian faith.
Fr Lokoro urges parents to be the first in letting the children learn about the word of God to become good future leaders.
The Vicar-General also encourages teachers to play their noble role in shaping the behaviours of children.
Fr Lokoro was speaking to Radio Emmanuel Peace Building Program, Hiwar Al shabab.
