The Deputy Mayor of Tonj Municipal Council says the previous order banning cultivation in town must be followed because crop farming in town breed mosquitoes and snakes.
People disobeyed the order issued in April this year, banning farming activities up to seven miles away from Tonj town.
Arop Mark says people should slash down their own crops in respect of the order, Radio Don Bosco reports.
The Deputy Mayor says the authority may tolerate crops like groundnuts for the time being.
He says the mayoral order is a preparation for the expansion of Tonj as a state.
Meanwhile, Tonj State Minister of Information, Madit Malek Akuien calls for voluntary disarmament in the area.
He says unauthorized guns must be handed over to the government so that the army is deployed to protect lives and property of citizens.
Four hundred guns have so far been collected from various communities in Tonj South, the State Minister of Information discloses.
