South Sudan Civil Society Alliance calls on the government to pay salaries and allowances of the public employees to put off strikes.
At least three government institutions in the country are on strike demanding for three months’ salaries and allowances, Radio Bakhita reports.
Secretary-General of the Alliance, Keluel Agok Kuch, says the revenues generated from customs and taxations are enough for paying the employees.
He urges the government to act quickly since the situation has become economically unbearable.
Agok criticizes the government for failing to answer economic questions of the nation.
South Sudan Civil Society Alliance also calls for initial reforms in the Central Bank as required in the peace agreement.
