In order to help children in the rural communities understand the African Child Day, Imotong State prepares to have the celebration of the day outside Torit.
Director for Child Welfare in the State Ministry of Gender, Culture and Social Development Jane Gama Surur revealed this on Thursday, Radio Emmanuel reports.
She says in the past, the state was holding activities in the capital Torit, leaving children in remote areas without knowing about the African Child Day.
Jane says this year, communities agreed to have the day celebrated outside Torit to give opportunity to the rural children to also understand the importance of the day.
Five key areas on children affairs have been identified to be addressed on the day, the director adds.
Children in Torit earlier, appealed to the government and concerned authorities to consider having events for the African Child Day.
