Hundreds of residents in Tore Payam of Yei River County on Saturday gathered at Mary Immaculate Parish to pray for the soul of Sister Veronika Rackova who died late May.
The Christians have been mourning since the announcement of her death last month, Radio Easter reports.
The residents say the services of the late Sister are unforgettable in health, education, preaching the word of God and empowering the women.
The Parish Priest of Mary Immaculate, Fr Lazarus Mondua, says the prayer aims at asking God to put the soul of Sister Veronika in eternal peace.
He says the late sister saved a number of people who faced serious health complications.
Sister Veronika, who was a Medical Director of St Bakhita Health Centre, died of wounds inflicted by shooting of suspected SPLA soldiers.
The government says the suspects are under investigation.
