The Transitional Government of National Unity should renew payroll system to remove ghost employees, says South Sudanese economist working for Ebony Centre for Strategic Studies.

Dr James Alic Garang says removing ghost employees in the government will help improve the economy of the country, Radio Bakhita reports.

He says the best way to address the economic crisis is to introduce a tougher financial management mechanism as required by lenders.

The economist also warns the Transitional Government against overspending especially through foreign trips with huge delegation.

Dr Alic’s remark comes two weeks after a visit of a team of the International Monetary Fund or IMF to Juba.

The IMF has recommended five strategies for the government to improve the economic crisis including reforms in monetary, fiscal and public finance management policies.
