South Sudan is expected to celebrate World Environment Day on Thursday at the Ministry of Wildlife and Tourism in Juba.
The Day is being organized by the Ministries of Environment and Forestry, Wildlife Conservation and Tourism in partnership with the UN Environment Programme.
World Environment Day was commemorated on Sunday under the theme: ‘The fight against the illegal trade in wildlife’.
Earlier the Director-General of UNESCO Irina Bokova called for joint efforts to protect wildlife and eradicate poverty.
She also urged the world bodies to conserve the untamed animals to boost food security and advance economic development.
The celebration focused on joining the war against unlawful wildlife trade to preserve the nature.
