The Mayor of Kichama in Heiban County of Nuba Mountains says authorities across the region have stopped the so-call rukwab dances to avoid eroding people’s culture.
Samuel Mahmud accused some authorities of violating the law by organizing ceremonies and later youth practice rukwab dances, Radio Voice of Peace reported.
He mentions that such dances are not from Nuba culture and it can spoil the young generation.
Mr Mahmed observed that Nuba is rich of cultural practices like traditional dances but people have brought in new bad cultures.
The chief of the area Hassan Kodi advised parents to influence their children to follow religion.
The authorities were speaking during a marriage ceremony in Kichama area.
