A two-day dialogue on improving the security of citizens in Yei started on Thursday under the theme: ‘Security is everyone’s business’.
The meeting was organized by the Institute for Promotion of Civil Society or IPCS with funds from South Sudan Action Network on Small Arms, Radio Easter reports.
IPCS Executive Director, Gale Emmanuel Jacob, says the dialogue aims at coming up with ways of advancing security in the area.
Some insecurity cases in the state might have contributed to hunger, says Lemeri George Duku, Director-General in the ministry of Local Government in Yei River.
Yei River Political Affairs Advisor Jackson Abugo Gama urges the conference to find out the root causes of post conflicts that create fear after the independence.
He notes that insecurity has brought mistrust between the government and its citizens.
Law enforcement agents, members of parliament, civil society, churches, media, teachers and non-governmental organizations are participating in the conference.
The security dialogue is expected to end on Friday.
