A suspected young man on Thursday and Saturday nights broke in to St Joseph Parish-Lutaya of the Catholic Diocese of Yei and stoles all items.

The man was caught on Saturday in his second attempt to steal, Radio Easter reports.

The vice chairperson of parish council Charles Jamba Peter says they realized the missing of the church materials during their meeting on Saturday.

The parish lost a car battery, candles, two bottles of altar wine and cloth, microphone, electrical wire cable and six prayer books, he explains.

Jamba says the suspect has eaten the communion and took all the church clothes of priests after breaking the cardboard.

The vice chairperson says initial investigation of the culprit in the presence of the area chief showed that he was mentally sick.

He says they are still for more investigation because some of the acts do not indicate that mental problem led him to steal.

Meanwhile Jocondo Bida, a youth from the Parish, says he arrested the suspect at 10:00 PM with the church items near his home.

St Joseph Parish was left bare to celebrate mass on Sunday after the two days sweeping of the church items.

But Pastoral Coordinator Fr Faustino Lumori provided his liturgical item for the celebration of the mass in the absence of the parish priest who is in Uganda.
