Church and government officials mourn Sister Veronica Rackova, a Medical Doctor of St Bakhita Health Centre in Yei.
Sister Veronica was shot on Monday morning by SPLA army after hurrying a desperate an expectant mother in child labour, to Harvester Hospital, Radio Easter reports.
A mass was held today, Saturday morning at Christ the King Cathedral.
Before the sister’s death, she said ‘Abuna (father), I am dying the bullet is painful. These people shot me, I have done nothing’, Vicar General Fr Zachariah Angutuwa Sebit recalls the words of the late sister.
Priests and Christians shed tears while Fr Angutuwa, was narrating Sister Veronica’s last words.
Fr Emmanuel Lodongo says Sr Veronica came to Yei Catholic Diocese in September 2010.
He laments that the sister died in pain for the service of the poor people of South Sudan.
