Ban Ki-moon to replace UNMISS top commander next month

UN Secretary-General announced on Friday the appointment of a Kenyan Lieutenant General Johnson Mogoa Kimani Ondieki as the Force Commander of their Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS.
 
He will replace Lieutenant General Yohannes Gebremeskel Tesfamariam of Ethiopia, says Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in a statement.
 
General Mogoa Kimani Ondieki is very experienced in the national and international military fields, including command and staff, the Secretary General observes.
 
Lieutenant Gebremeskel is expected to complete his task on June 17 and hands over to the new general.
 
The Secretary-General appreciates Lieutenant General Tesfamariam for his dedication in service during his term.
