Commission urges institutions to allow citizens access information

The newly formed Information Commission of South Sudan urges the government and private institutions to allow citizens access information authorized by law.

The information held by government and private bodies are for the public consumption, Wol Deng Atak, Commission’s Deputy Chairperson tells Radio Bakhita ‘Wake-up Juba’ program.

Deng further explains that denying a citizen access to information is an offence punishable by law.

The official says the Information Commission is seeking funds in order to start operating fully.
