Harmful cultural practices should be avoided and the community embraces modern ones, says a preacher at the Lutheran Bible Church in Laro in Nuba Mountains.
Yassir Jula in an interview with Radio Voice of Peace on Tuesday stresses that some cultural norms do not fit in other occasions and are opposed to the current generation.
He argues that although some cultural and traditional practices will not be removed completely, the community should consider other conditions surrounding them.
The preacher advises the community to change some practices so that everybody who comes to their ceremonies feels welcomed.
He says marriage and other cultural practices should be performed in a Christian way that is opened to all people.
The preacher comments that he may not eat food cooked after performing some traditional rituals.
