Troika, a body comprising of United States, United Kingdom and Norway has welcomed the formation of the Transitional Government of National Unity with a call for serious steps to tackle economic crisis in South Sudan.

The formation of the transitional government is a step forward, but it is no time to celebrate, the Troika says as Gurtong website reports.

Troika says the death of thousands of South Sudanese, widespread atrocities and displacements of millions during the conflict do not call for celebration.

The Troika calls on South Sudanese leaders to continue cooperating to start rebuilding the country.

The international community stands united in urging the Transitional Government of National Unity to start working for the people, Troika says.

There must be full cooperation with the United Nations and humanitarian agencies to ensure aid reach the people in need, says the western body.

Formal and informal obstructions must be removed, Troika stresses in a joint statement.
