More than three dozen survivors of Gambella raids by suspected South Sudanese are receiving medical care at Maiwut Hospital supported by International Committee of the Red Cross or ICRC.
Chiyuki Yoshida, ICRC Hospital Project Manager says overcrowding remains a challenge since the hospital continues to receive more cases of severe malnutrition, malaria and violence.
He says Maiwut Hospital has carried out more than 1000 surgeries this year.
Maiwut Hospital, about 20 kilometres from Gambella is the only medical facility providing surgical and advanced health care in the Upper Nile region.
Nearly 200 people were killed and more than 100 children abducted during the raids at Jakawa area in Gambella, Ethiopia.
