The Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission, JMEC in collaboration with IGAD Plus partners have given an ultimatum for Dr Riek Machar to return to Juba this Saturday.
The peace partners and guarantors including UNMISS, US, EU and China have proposed that Dr Machar, the First Vice President designate should come to Juba with 195 protection forces, 20 PKMs and 20 RPG-7s weapons among others, Radio Bakhita reports.
The partners expect Dr Machar to return as soon as the necessary logistical and security arrangements are put in place no later than 23rd of April, 2016.
SPLM/A-In-Opposition has welcomed the proposal in its entirety, says General Taban Deng Gai, the opposition Chief Negotiator.
However, the government has rejected the proposal saying the SPLM/A-IO forces should return to Juba with seven PKMs and seven RPGs.
Government spokesperson, Michael Makuei Lueth says the government is still reviewing the proposal, but he believes it is unacceptable.
Should the government and opposition continue to disagree, President Festus Mogae, the head of JMEC will report to the UN Security Council for a way forward.
