Heavy gunshots South West of Wau town forced many civil servants to stay indoors and several schools disrupted.
Most civilians like Monica Ilario say they were shocked by the heavy gunfire just close to the town, Radio Voice of Hope reports.
Wau Town Mayor, Akol Akol Ajieth says the gunshots terrified many civilians outside the municipality.
He declines to make further comments on the matter.
Wau County Commissioner, Anthony Fada Taban says SPLA forces clashed with an armed group fighting the government in Wau County.
He says he has no details of the incident.
But, Commissioner Fada believes it happened approximately between Bussere and Momoi areas.
Radio Voice of Hope could not reach SPLA for comments on the heavy gunshots.
