The nationwide polio vaccination campaign launched in Wau last Friday is likely to leave out hundreds of children trapped in Wau County by insecurity, health officials say.
Health officials from World Health Organization or WHO, United Nations Children Fund, UNICEF are calling on the government to enable vaccinators to cross to three Payams of Wau County for the polio drop exercise, Radio Voice of Hope reports.
Dr Bimpa Dien, the head of the WHO in Wau says all health partners are ready to reach the areas with the help of the government.
He reiterates that it is the right of every child to get vaccinated against polio as a deadly disease.
James Ukello Marjan, the Director-General of Wau Health Ministry says the vaccine targets more than 30 thousand children of less than five years.
The polio vaccination exercise runs for five days.
