Authorities of Eastern Lakes in ‘Yirol’ categorically dismissed the article that the Governor declares state of emergency in the state.

In the statement to Radio Good News on Tuesday, Information minister Nelson Makoi Makur, strongly condemned Sudan Tribune’s article.

The story was misleading, misquoted and fabricated statement, he said.

Governor Rin Tueny Mabor during a meeting with NGOs in Awerial County declares hunger in Eastern Lakes State, not state of emergency as Sudan Tribune put it, said the Minister.

He added that the Governor was very positive in his meeting and urged citizens of Awerial County to cultivate their own food instead of relying on humanitarian aid.

I wanted to put it clear that Sudan Tribune always aim at tarnishing the name of senior government officials, he said.

The Minister urges journalists to report accurate information through consulting right authorities.

State of emergency is to be declared by the President of the Republic, not the governor, Minister Makoi said.
