Senior Four Secondary School candidates in Kajo-Keji County are sitting for their national exams amidst heavy security deployment, an official reveals.
The military deployment in secondary schools follows fast circulating rumours of security threats in the area, says Derrick Derickson, the County Press Secretary.
The county administration has approved the military deployment in schools to control any eventuality, the official says.
Though the presence of military in an academic arena may pose a psychological torture, the students expect to perform the best all over the country, says the Press Secretary.
In December 2015, Wolyan Patrick, the Speaker of Kajo-Keji County Legislative Council raised concerns about declining academic performance amongst students in the area.
He challenged all education stakeholders in the county to investigate the root causes of the deteriorating academic excellence and address them immediately.
The South Sudan Certificate exams run for about two weeks beginning this Monday.
