40,860 candidates are sitting South Sudan Certificate Exams in five centers of Lakes States, education authorities say.

Some students including Mabor Majur and John Madit Manyar complain that November and December are suitable months for exams not April, Radio Good News reports.

They doubt whether Rumbek National Secondary School will lead again this time because there was no proper teaching last year.

Western Lakes State Education Minister Mabor Mayen encourages the candidates to do well in exams.

He urges parents to give their sons and daughters a quiet environment to study in a good atmosphere.

Remember what you learnt and score all the subjects to uplift the name of Greater Lakes States community, Daniel Dut Makuet, Minister for Information, Culture, youth and Sports told the candidates.

Last year Rumbek National Secondary School led South Sudan in the Certificate exams countrywide.
