In response to worsening food insecurity in South Sudan, China has donated 1,700 tons of rice to help in the humanitarian crisis.
Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan, Ma Qiang while delivering the donation in Juba this week raised China’s concern about the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the country.
‘Rice is the first phase of Chinese donation agreed upon by the two governments in July 2015,’ says the ambassador.
Medical aid from China is also due in Juba soon, says Ma Qiang.
South Sudan’s Humanitarian Affairs Minister, Awut Deng Acuil has appreciated the Chinese aid.
