Anybody found marrying off school girls rather than educating them will be punished, warns the Minister of Education in Yei River State.

Speaking in Kakwa, Mary Apayi Ayiga says parents must stop forcing children to marry off for them to obtain high bride wealth, Radio Easter reports.

Provide the necessary support to children’s education needs, Minister Apayi urges.

She blames some parents for encouraging children to marry as early as primary school levels.

Yei River State government will conduct house to house search to ensure parents send all children to school, the minister threatens.

Minister Apayi reminds boys and girls to love education so that they can become successors of the aging leaders.

She made the remarks during the graduation of more than 200 women and men in Lasu Payam of Yei River County on Thursday.
