The SPLA warns that it will take legal action against media agencies that are defaming military officers and the army in general.
Brigadier-General Lul Ruai Koang, the SPLA Spokesperson says there have been malicious rumours on social and print media against Lieutenant General Thomas Cirilo that he was joining his Bari community to fight the army against land grabbing.
Such a statement is not expected of a high ranking military officer, the army spokesperson argues.
Brigadier Ruai also dismisses media reports that Lieutenant General Cirilo was threatening to leave the army to fight against land grabbers in his ancestral village of Rajaf.
Lieutenant General Cirilo is the Deputy Chief of General Staff for Logistics in the SPLA General Headquarters.
The army spokesperson was responding to earlier media reports that a tense situation of potential conflict emerged at Rajaf area during previous weekends.
The tense situation, the army now dismisses reportedly prompted President Salva Kiir, Vice President James Wani Igga, General SPLA Chief, Paul Malong Awan and National Security Minister, General Isaac Obuto Mamur to visit Rajaf village home of Lieutenant General Thomas Cirilo to put down the potential crisis.
