Kajo-Keji and Moyo communities are meeting to drive out fear and suspicion of aggression across their borders after 2014 bloody clashes, says an official.

Julius Lokonga Eliyuda, the Commissioner of Kajo-Keji County says since the bloody clashes occurred in 2014, the bilateral relations between South Sudan and Uganda border had been dogged with fear and suspicion of possible attack.

‘We want to erase that fear and suspicion that something bad is going to happen’, Lokonga says.

Majority of South Sudanese students from Kajo-Keji who were studying in Moyo did not return since the deadly conflict broke out in 2014, the Commissioner says.

Commissioner Lokonga explains that the meeting has now resolved that either side of the border communities should benefit from socio-economic services such as education and health as usual.

CRN efforts to get comments from the Resident District Commissioner of Moyo on the meeting were fruitless.
