The family of ex-governor of Western Equatoria State, Joseph Bangasi Bakosoro is demanding for his release after three months of detention without charge.
The National Security Services arrested Bakosoro on December 22, 2015 in Juba and continued detaining him ever since, Radio Tamazuj reports.
Bakosoro’s sister says in her recent visit to the detention dungeon, she discovered that Bakosoro’s health was deteriorating.
‘Every Sunday we go to visit him, but his health is not good’, the sister reveals.
Some anonymous analysts believe the government is detaining ex-governor Bakosoro for fear of his political influence in the Equatoria region.
Recently, the head of South Sudan Human Rights Commission asked the legislature to abolish the National Security Act, 2014 which violates the law of the land and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights against arrests without charges or warrants.
