A strange cattle disease outbreak has infected animals in Umdurdu Administrative Unit of Heiban County in the Nuba Mountains.

Tawu Kanjala Tia, the Secretary for Livestock’s Health in the region says they are providing emergency treatment, Radio Voice of Peace reports.

But, he fears medicine could not be enough for all cattle in the area.

Up to 65,000 cattle in five central counties were vaccinated from 2015 to January 2016, Kanjala says.

The Western and Eastern parts of the Nuba Mountains region were not vaccinated, he says.

The strange disease is linked to blood and mouth fever, the official says.
