Government allied militias rape women as payment, says UN

The United Nations, UN Human Rights Office Chief in a report on Friday says an assessment team received information that armed militias who carry out attacks together with the SPLA commit violations.
 
Zeid Raad al-Hussein says the militias commit rape under an agreement of ‘do what you can and take what you can’.
 
The official describes South Sudan as ‘one of the most terrible human rights situations in the world.’
 
‘Most of the youth also raided cattle, stole personal property, raped and abducted women and girls as a form of payment,’ the report explains.
 
The army reaction to the report could not be obtained by press time.
