The Vice President of South Sudan admits before the national parliament that joining the East African Community has some weaknesses.
But, James Wani Igga still believes South Sudan membership in the bloc has fewer disadvantages than advantages, Radio Bakhita reports.
He says critics of the membership capitalizes that South Sudan will be a dumping ground for commodities from other more developing members.
The cost and the benefits of joining the East African Community are equal, says Presidential Advisor on Economic Affairs, Aggrey Tisa Sabuni.
He believes joining the East African Community will assist in improving South Sudan’s economy.
For the country to formalize the membership President Salva Kiir has to sign the treaty of accession and the parliament endorses it, Tisa explains.
The officials were briefing the legislature on the admission of the country into East Africa Community recently.
