Hundreds of laity, priests, government officials and Imotong state governor received the Apostolic Nuncio to South Sudan on Thursday in Torit.

Representative of the Vatican Archbishop Charles Daniel Balvo is for his first pastoral visit to the Catholic Diocese of Torit, Radio Emmanuel reports.

The Nuncio says his visit aims at interacting with priests, religious and faithful of the Catholic Diocese of Torit.

Imotong State Governor Nartisio Loluke Manir pledges to implement peace in the state.

He recalls Torit started the liberation struggle for the independence of South Sudan.

Many Christians expect the Apostolic Nuncio to deliver messages of peace and reconciliation to the people of South Sudan.

They also expect the representative of the Pope to assure the faithful of the Catholic Diocese of Torit on the seat of the Bishop that fell vacant since 2013.

Secretary-General of the Diocese of Torit Fr Joseph Logura announces that the Nuncio will on Friday visit diocese facilities and pay courtesy call to the Governor.
