Juba prisoners and officers receive vocational skills

Juba Central Prison on Thursday witnesses the launch of vocational skills’ training for over one hundred inmates and ninety-one officers.
 
It is important that the government empowers prisoners with skills to become useful in the society upon their release, says Acuil Tito Madut, Acting Interior Minister.
 
He explains that there are several inmates in South Sudan due to break down of the rule of law.
 
Prisoners and prison officials undergo eight trade courses including agriculture, carpentry & joinery and building
 
The other topics are electricity, tailoring, dress making, welding & metal fabrication and auto mechanics.
 
Sabuni Samuel, a training supervisor says the course guards against evils of idleness.
 
One of the inmates speaks to CRN Journalist Yanta Daniel Elisha about her expectations from the training. 
 
The training takes three months.
 
United Nations Development Program is funding the first pilot vocational training for Juba Central Prison.
