Government and SPLM/A-In-Opposition have agreed on a plan for the implementation of phased transitional security arrangements for Juba, says the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission, JMEC.
Immediate arrangements will be initiated for over one thousand SPLM/A-In-Opposition forces to be transported to Juba, JMEC announces.
It says the agreement was reached on Tuesday in Juba that the number of troops and police would be sufficient for the return of First Vice President, Riek Machar.
The arrival of the SPLM/A-IO forces will constitute the first phase of security arrangements for the capital.
President Festus Mogae, the Chairperson of JMEC welcomes the agreement on the proposed plan for security arrangements.
He urges all relevant actors to work quickly to conclude the tasks agreed on.
Dr Machar’s arrival paves way for the establishment of the Transitional Government of National Unity. says the Commission.
The subsequent movement of security forces to Juba will be conducted following the formation of the Transitional Government of National Unity.
