South Sudan Commission of Refugee Affairs launches Eligibility Committee to receive and protect asylum seekers in the country.
John Bol Akot, the Commission Chairman says the Committee will receive, register and protect asylum seekers and refugees, Radio Bakhita reports.
The team shall also review and determine applicants’ eligibility for refugee status, Bol explains.
He says the Committee will play advisory role in the Ministry of Interior on matters of refugees.
Bol urges stakeholders to provide necessary technical training and support to the Committee.
Acting Minister of Interior, Acuil Tito Madut says the ministry will ensure close teamwork with the committee to address challenges that face asylum seekers.
