UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Aid or OCHA in Wau State is calling on the government to allow organizations to access affected areas of Wau County.

OCHA Coordinator in Wau, Joyce Asha, appeals to the government to open its road blocks to humanitarian agencies to assess the situation and response with aid, Radio Voice of Hope reports.

One of the citizens who fled the area says on the condition of anonymity that raping, looting and burning of civilians’ houses by government forces forced them to flee their villages.

Many IDPs continue to arrive in Wau town and need special humanitarian assistance, says Pons Filberto, South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission Director in Wau.

Wau State Acting Governor Andrea Dominic apologized for the blockage of humanitarian agencies to access the areas.
