Health authorities in Wau State are preparing for meningitis vaccination campaign covering three counties of the former western Bahr el Ghazal State.

Director-General in the Ministry of Health, James Ukello says the campaign targets over three thousand people from the age of one to 29 years.

He says the campaign is expected to begin on March 15 and the vaccination will include children, pupils and students.

Dr Ukello describes meningitis as dangerous bacteria that cause health complications at the central nervous system especially underage children.

He urges all mothers to take their children for vaccination to help prevent them from getting that sickness.

The Director-General explains that the injection prevents a child and adult from being infected by the virus for ten years.

The national Ministry of Health and partners are supporting the campaign.
