Cattle rustlers on Saturday night stole eight cows in Tura-Bakso village of Amdurdu Administrative Unit in Heiban County, Nuba Mountains.

Kukani Ismail Hamuda, the owner of the cattle, said he was not around and his children brought him the news in the morning, Radio Voice of Peace reported.

He reported that he gathered the youth of the area to follow the raiders to over 30 kilometres, but could not find them.

Ismail said the stolen cows were the only ones left for the family.

Hamuda Adam, the chief of the village condemned the continuous cattle raiding in the area.

He recalled that last year in March and April thieves stole more than 60 heads of cattle in the same area.

The chief said Kumbur Payam authorities deployed security personnel to the area last month, but left shortly claiming that the community was not cooperating with them.

Kumbur Payam experiences cattle theft since 2013 with increasing magnitude of raids every year.
