The report indicates that 80 percent of South Sudanese live far below poverty line, says the Executive Director of Community Empowerment for Rehabilitation and Development, CEFORD.
About 100 respondents in Yei, Lainya and Morobo Counties of Central Equatoria say they spend at most 10 South Sudanese Pounds daily.
That figure is far below 30 Pounds equivalent of one US Dollar now in black market.
Mawa George Lazarus, the CEFORD Executive Director concludes that the devaluation of South Sudanese Pounds against hard currency has negatively affected ordinary citizens
He says citizens urge the warring parties to implement the peace deal to end hardships they face every day.
Citizens recommend reduction of taxes imposed on businesses, says the director.
Subsidizing essential goods to avoid hiking prices is part of their recommendations, George explains.
The report is entitled ‘I will never survive till next month’.
