The United States government and people are ready to support South Sudanese leaders in implementing the peace agreement, says US Ambassador to South Sudan.

Ambassador Mary Catherine Phee expresses happiness to hear that President Salva Kiir on Thursday appointed Dr Riek Machar as his first vice, Radio Bakhita reports.

She describes the moves as ‘the first important step in the formation of the transitional government’.

The Ambassador calls on the peace partners to redeploy SPLA out from Juba and tackle the economic situation in South Sudan.

The US Ambassador to South Sudan was speaking during Radio Bakhita’s Wake up Juba talk show on Friday.
