South Sudan will dedicate this year’s World Radio Day to honor the lives of journalists killed and those in detention, says chairman of the organizing committee.
Edward Lodu Terso says the Day aims at promoting access to information, freedom of expression, gender equality and the safety of Journalists, Radio Bakhita reports.
He adds that Journalists helped in the development of South Sudan in so many ways.
The radio plays a great role in the affairs of South Sudan especially during the 2013 conflict, says Josephine Achiro Fartello, a Planning Committee Member.
World Radio Day will be marked on Saturday under the theme: ‘Radio in times of war and conflict”.
During the event, Radio stations are expected to have live broadcast coverage of the event at Rembo football ground starting at 10 PM to 2 PM.
