Hundreds of Women in Wau State launch Village Saving and Loan Association, VSLA.
The initiative hatched by ACTED, an international organization trained women to minimize their expenditures to save more for businesses, Radio Voice of Hope reports.
Regina Edward, one of them is now able to save up to ten thousand South Sudanese Pounds.
Speaking in Arabic, Ms Edward says she started by selling chicken to local markets before forming a group for loaning returns.
Another woman, Mary Joseph began by opening a home based bakery and later established a kiosk for selling airtime and running a tea shop.
She considers family consumption as the biggest challenge to her business savings.
Jackline Wandera who works for a local NGO, Passionate Harmony Campaign, says most businesses operated by women collapse because they do not diversify them.
James Ganuat, the ACTED Coordinator says women have limited access to financial institutions for loans.
He hopes the VSLA scheme will help most women save more.
Women in Wau have been training on small business techniques and savings for one month now.
