Lack of electricity forces Urban Corporation to stop supplying water in Juba

Lack of electricity has forced South Sudan Urban Water Corporation to stop pumping treated pipe water to citizens in Juba, says Deputy Executive Director.
 
Madol Kuot tells Radio Bakhita that lack of electricity and chemicals to treat the water forced them to cut off many areas from the supply line.
 
He says the Corporation planned to construct emergency water distribution centers around Juba.
 
Japan International Cooperation Agency or JICA launched four-year capacity building on water management for the staff of the Corporation.
 
JICA Country Director, Mitsuaki Furukawa, says the project will help the Corporation to maintain the facility.
 
The new treatment plant currently under construction, consist of water treatment, filling stations and 120 public taps to benefit about 400 thousand people in Juba.
 
It is expected to be complete next year.
