UNICEF is appealing for 155 million US Dollars to meet the urgent needs children in South Sudan.

The appeal is part of UNICEF’s campaign to reach 43 million children in humanitarian emergencies worldwide.

An unacceptable number of children continue to bear desperate situations, Jonathan Veitch, UNICEF Representative in South Sudan warns in a statement.

They die from preventable diseases due to crisis, he added.

Veitch said more than 900 thousand children were displaced from their homes.

He added that more than 400 thousand were not able to attend school since fighting erupted in the country.

UNICEF estimated quarter of a million children suffered from severe malnutrition in 2015.

Close to 16 thousand children recruited by armed groups since the conflict began, it said.
