Traders in Yei town markets say they are now running businesses to sustain families.
They say some of their colleagues have closed their businesses in fear of further losses, Radio Easter reports.
Lilias Tokosa is one of the traders selling vegetables in Yei park market.
Tokosa says the abnormal current increase in prices of goods is making life very difficult for her due to the expenses she incurs in transport cost and uploading.
Another retailer, Anna Roba, says food price increase has limited her usual feeding, paying for her children school fees and medical services.
She says a basin of beans is now costing 400 South Sudanese Pounds compared to 250 Pounds in December last year.
As of today in the black market, 100 US dollar sells at 2,700 South Sudanese Pounds.
Meanwhile, South Sudan presidential advisor on economy, Aggrey Tisa Sabuni recently asked citizens to put all efforts together to produce more food to end the economic hardships.
Traders have reported the daily increase to the office for many times, says Edward Lugala Matayo, deputy chairperson of Yei Chamber of Commerce.
He advises traders to be patient.
