Catholic Bishops of South Sudan will invite the Pope to visit the country, reveals Vice President of Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference or SCBC.

Bishop Erkolano Lodu Tombe told Radio Bakhita upon arrival from Rome on Monday that the Bishops will prepare to ask Pope Francis through the Apostolic Nuncio of South Sudan.

Bishop Lodu confirmed that they resolved to maintain one Conference until further notice.

No reason to separate the Conference because it is a pastoral institution and should remain one in order to support itself, he added.

The Apostolic Administrators and Coordinator shall continue running the dioceses of Torit, Malakal and Rumbek until the Pope appoints Bishops, explains the Vice President.

Bishop Lodu said their journey to Rome was not easy but ended well.
