The National Parliament today passed Non-Governmental Organizations or NGO Bill, 2015 to second reading.
Justice Minister Paulino Wanawilla Unango tells journalists that the Bill is meant to regulate the work of NGOs, Radio Bakhita reports.
He rejects claims that some provisions in the Bill are intended to restrict freedom of humanitarian organizations.
Committees of Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs and that of Justice and Legislation are tasked to scrutinize the Bill and report to the Parliament next Monday.
President Salva Kiir last year returned to parliament for further deliberation.
