South Sudan remains one of the International Committee of the Red Cross, ICRC’s top priorities in terms of humanitarian response.
 
Christine Beerli, ICRC Vice-President reaffirms commitment to continue providing emergency assistance while reinforcing people’s resilience.
 
She calls on government and SPLM in Opposition to respect civilians.
 
The ICRC Vice President also calls for access of aid worker’s to those in need to carry out their work.
 
This week, Beerli met with South Sudan Vice-President James Wani Igga and other high level government representatives and with members of the international community in Juba.
 
She also met affected communities in Jonglei and Upper Nile.
 
Ms Beerli observes that the people have been significantly affected by displacement, hunger and insecurity.
