A priest in the Catholic Diocese of Tombura/Yambio is calling for prayers for the bad humanitarian situation that ‘is increasing daily in the parishes of Ezo, Source Yubu and Yambio’.

He says roads are becoming impassable and nearly controlled by the armed groups.

The priest explains that some of their priests went to Ezo, Tombura, Source Yubu and Naandi parishes and were stopped several times on the road and being asked for money and possible check in their cars.

The road connecting Yambio to Uganda is impassable as no cars or lorries are bringing goods any more, he adds.

The priest points out that prices of all items including food commodities have gone too high in the market.

‘Fuel is scares to use in the cars, one has to look for fuel in the black market to buy a litre between 40 – 50 SSP’, he says.
