At least 15 children were wounded during a rush at Rumbek Freedom Square on Saturday evening when unknown person fired bullets into the air.
Rumbek Police Officer, Daniel Marial says they received reports of the incident that children were run-over by a crowd escaping the gunshots by an unidentified person.
Rumbek State Hospital Health worker, John Dictor Makoi confirms to Good News Radio that they admitted 15 children with cases of fractures and bruises on eyes, chests and other parts of the body.
Dictor says they have discharged several children except for one with a severe case.
Police Officer Marial advises families to stop taking children under 14 years to crowded events to avoid repeat of similar incidences.
He also urges the public to take cover during gunshots instead of running aimlessly.
Gunshots in the middle of Rumbek Freedom Square sent thousands of people running with others jumping over the perimeter wall.
