Public transporters in Juba are considering rise of travel costs within the city.
The speculation follows Nile Petroleum Corporation’s announcement on Thursday that petrol stations will sell a litre of fuel at 22 South Sudanese Pounds.
One transporter says commercial motorcyclists or Boda-boda will soon charge customers from 30 to 40 Pounds per trip to avoid losses.
Another transporter says current charges for travel within Juba City range from ten to 50 Pounds.
The transporters say bus transport from Juba town to Gudele went from two to five South Sudanese Pounds.
All people are suffering, walking in the streets because they cannot afford transport fares as others earn 300 Pounds per month, a transporter explains.
They appeal to political leaders to intervene in controlling the worsening economic situation.
The transporters were speaking to CRN Journalist in the streets of Juba City on Friday.
